Got an odd size like 19mm or 21mm? Go up to the next size. A 20mm strap fits a 19mm lug width perfectly — it just tucks in slightly. Same goes for 21mm watches with a 22mm strap.
A striped NATO strap is a one-piece nylon watch strap with two or more colour stripes woven into the fabric. It threads under the watch and has a secondary keeper loop for security — if one spring bar fails, the watch stays on your wrist. The design originated with British military watch straps in the 1970s.
The James Bond NATO strap traditionally refers to the black and grey striped combination worn by Sean Connery in Goldfinger (1964). Measure the gap between your watch's lugs (where the strap attaches) in millimetres. Most watches are 20mm or 22mm. If you're between sizes, go up — a 20mm strap fits a 19mm lug width just fine. Check our Strap Finder if you're unsure.

Remove your existing strap, leave the spring bars in the lugs, and thread the NATO strap between the spring bars and the caseback. The long piece goes through first, then the short tail tucks through the keeper loops. Takes about 30 seconds — no tools needed beyond a spring bar tool to remove the old strap.
